As I’ve said before, and will continue to say, one of the best aspects of the Sofar Sounds concert series is its ability to unearth heretofore obscured area talents, placing them in a context allowing them, and by extension, their music, to shine.

Such is the case with Dallas-based singer-songwriter Ellen Hinton, who performs under the nom de tune Ellen Once Again, and whom I first became aware of this summer during a sweltering but spirited Sofar set inside the Fairmount Community Library.

Her breezy, back-to-the-future pop — Hinton describes her sound as “one part vintage and two parts bubbly with a shot of pop-soul” on her Bandcamp page — invites you in with a smile on her four-track EP, Another Chance to Live. Although the Longview native makes the most of her 15-minute showcase, the most infectious and radio-ready cut here is far and away Anything, a sunny anthem it’s easy to imagine in heavy rotation alongside Sara Bareilles or Elle King. Live fairly brims with vitality, marking Hinton as a local musician to keep tabs on.
